Will my acne get worst if I stop taking Proactiv & start taking what the doctor gave me?
I’ve bееn using Proactiv ѕіnсе thе еnd οf August & іt hasn’t really done anything ѕο I wеnt tο thе doctor & thеу gave mе a pill tο take everyday fοr 2 months until mу face clears. Bυt whаt I wаѕ wondering іѕ іf I ѕtοр putting Proactiv οn mу face wіll mу skin gеt wοrѕt? Bесаυѕе I heard уουr skin gets addicted tο іt & once уου ѕtοр іt mаkеѕ іt wοrѕt..іѕ thаt trυе?
NONONONONNO!! Your skin is not “addicted” to this stuff. Your skin, in fact, is also trying to get rid of the acne itself, but can’t. It’s not “making new acne” to get more proactiv. If Proactiv doesn’t work for you, it’s not meant for you. We all have different skin.
You should continue to listen to your doctor, but here’s some extra tips for you:
I used to always use many irritating products and they never seem to work. Instead, they would dry out my skin and make it look really red. But then, I stepped away from all that and took a natural approach.
First, drink water. It helps detoxify your body and cleanses it of impurities. Also, change your diet to fruits and vegetables. Whole grains are also healthy. By doing this, you will be ensuring that the rest of your life is healthy and hopefully, acne free.
Second, get some lemons and squeeze fresh juice from it. Then, take a cotton ball and apply it over your face and leave it there for about 15-20 minutes. I will warn you that it stings/itches quite a lot, but that means it’s killing the bacteria and healing any old acne scars.
After that’s done, moisturize your skin with a NONCOMEDOGENIC moisturizer. People think that drying your skin will clear acne, but this is false. Your skin will, instead, produce even MORE oil to make up for the lost of moisture. So moisturize!
Before bed, apply some freshly cut cucumber slices to your acne spots. This not only reduces inflammation but it helps heal acne scars. Take them off in the morning or when they’re dry.
Good luck!
Ask your doctor? Your doctor will know how it works, you may be able to continue with the Proactiv while taking the medication, and he can let you know how they will interact. However if it wasn’t making your acne better in the first place, its unlikely to make it worse when you stop.
