My teenage stepdaughter started breaking out a couple of months ago. I had seen "Proactive" advertised on TV. Since Proactive is out of our price range, I went to Walgreen’s where I found their own version of proactive. The Walgreens version cost $20.00, is a 3 step system, and cleared her skin in one week. Try it. It worked for us.
U ned to drink a lot of water when u wake up in the morning. Use a good gel to was your face, eat fruits and vergetables, see a doctor and have a bolod test,
use home made face packs
well try oxy and such or take them to a dermatoligist
Well there is many ways to prevent. Some doctor say to diet well it doesnt work. I know a special scrub to make its easy and you could probably make it. It simple just mix sugar and honey and a splash of lemon. The sugar is for the texture to exfoliate your skin and the honey is so its not so rough on the skin and the lemon is to dry out all the oil on your face try it out see how it work its. If not there is this new medicine that works great called benziclin
Try different methods, try the proactive, my friend had bad acne and that helped a lot. Tell her to avoid cinnamon and greasy foods, chocoloate etc. Talk to her derm. and try to get creams. Differin gel works great and there are many other brands. Good luck
do not try many facial products on her, but try to make her eat right everyday.. less fats and more exercise… more water… and juices.. that might help
To believe it or not. My daughter the same. Try this. Cook no chicken, no eggs for 2 weeks. See if that cures it up. It can be something she’s eating. Dr say its not food related but let me tell u this. my daughter stays away from wheat food, chicken stuff and soy products. it works out great. U can also have her take an alergy test.
My dermatologist prescribed Clindamax lotion for my adult acne and it works incredibly well. It comes in a generic form and insurance covers it. A regular doctor could prescribe it for her. You put a thin layer on after you wash in the morning.
I would suggest seeing a naturopathic physician. They will try different vitamin therapys and help with nutrition. Doing a twice a year internal body cleanse (detox)can help rid the body of toxins that can accumulate and come out through the skin. Eat lots of leafy green vegies and brown rice. avoid heavy meats, processed foods and dairy for a while and switch to soy or rice based "dairy". lots of water and herbal teas too. Use unscented products on the skin and avoid ones with "parabens". Good luck.
PROACTIVE try it
i used to have the same prob. what i did was simply change my cleanser that suit my skin type, and continue using it for 3 months, alonside with toner n cream n all. it wont show result for the first month.just be patient.n dont forget to drink a lot of water, n dont sleep with make up on.hehe.
When I was a teenager, I used Retin A. I had tried everything else w/o luck. But, it is a harsh medication that can cause severe skin damage if you are on it and exposed too much to the sun. It can also cause birth defects if you are pregnant. (Nothing implied-mentioned for other readers). It took a few months to work and things get worse before better. But, I literally got up one day to perfect skin. I had not been wearing makeup on my skin due to sensitivity and did not put it on that day. I went to school, then work and had many comments about my skin. People asked me what make up I was wearing etc. It was great. There are now versions that are not as harsh. Ask her doctor, I got my RX from my PCP then and again last year from another PCP. Insurance may not cover the drug so check with your insurance carrier if money is an issue.
I had an acne problem but not too severe… This is what worked for me: I had eliminated fried-oily foods entirely out of my diet. (no more KFC) and I made sure I ate an orange everyday to cleanse my system. Avoid touching your face with your hands at all costs. because I have oily skin, I do use a facewash that tighten my pores. too many types of face wash or medication can only aggrevate the acne.
i had it really bad up till i was 20 i tried everything my doctor finally got sick and did nothing. iam 25 and i have been acne free for 5 year not even a pimple during that time of the month. i read an add about acutan it is powerfull stuff so i would recommend call a dermatologist and talk to them as well if she is under the age of 18 they will refuse to give it to her. good luck and iam sure if she can go on it she will not be disappointed
Make sure she washes her face everyday, morning and night. Make sure she removes every trace of makeup(if she wears makeup). Maybe the type of makep she wears is causing the breakouts. Some foundations are now made for people with acne prone skin. Also take a multivitamin. Eat more fruits and veggies, make sure she has a balanced diet. Drink lots of water.
If you only have a few pimples:
* try putting rubbing alcohol on the pimple
* try putting toothpaste (but not the gel kind) on the pimple overnight, rinse off in morning
* try putting egg white on the pimple overnight, rinse off in morning
One website http://homeremedies4u.tripod.com/ suggests applying visine eyedrops to your pimple to reduce redness. It also suggests To rid redness from a big pimple, pop 2 advil; it gets rid of the inflammation
If none of the above works call a dermatolgist on your own and get her an appt.
I have also heard that Proactiv works.
A little fasting. Let the liver to clean the blood. Hot tee, a lot. Wash your face with cold water. Clearasil. And the most important: don`t touch your face only if you wash your hands before.
When I was 8 I started getting acne, when I was 21 it stopped simply by my using a good lotion. Acne is caused by a combination of your skin pores opening up to produce oil and the bacteria which are already on your skin’s surface then getting into the pores. The first step is then to wash ones face at least 2-3 times a day morning/night. After she washes her face she should then wipe it with rubbing alcohol to kill all the bacteria on her face at that time. Then she should apply a good lotion. Lotion that is good for your face are ones that don’t contain lanolin (sheep oil) or petreoleum like grease which is man made and pore clogging. Lubriderm and Sauve Advanced Therapy are great lotions for your face. Sauve (which is what I use because it isn’t real expensive) contains both glycerin (a cleansing oil) and mineral oil which works great to keep your pores from opening to produce oils to hydrate the skin. I used to think I didn’t need lotion because my skin was so oily already, but it actually stopped being oily after I began applying lotion immediatly after taking a shower or washing my face. Have you ever seen the ads on tv for proactive? Ther 3 step program is the exact same, a cleanser, an astringent, and a moisturiser. This way is just cheaper and probably more effective. Good luck, I know over time this will truly work.
I’m a BIG fan of ProActive. And you can get it without perscription. I’m not sure if it’s the ingredients or the fact that if you use it regularly, it more-or-less ENSURES that you’re keeping your skin very clean, but it [does] work. I say this because the main ingredient in it seems to be benzoyle peroxide- which is a very common acne treatment medication….which didn’t work for me in the past, yet my skin did clear up after I’d used it for a few weeks. I’ll qualify that by stating that my acne at the time, wasn’t as severe as what a teen may have.
Steroids!? Find another doctor!
Now when I was a teen, I needed some MAJOR help: A dermatologist may put her on a run of Accutane. When I was younger, my dermatologist tried for 2 years to talk me into it- before I finally caved….wonderful stuff. Absolutely the most HORRID list of ‘potential’ side effects this side of uranium, but it really does work. And I didn’t experience any ill effects other than unbelievably dry skin.
Also: according to my wife, certain make-up can cause problems. SHE is a big fan of Bare Essentials make-up and a she detests Avon.
I use Johnson & Johnson’s Clean & Clear products: the cleanser, the astringent, and the spot treatemnt gel when I have problems with the skin on my face. But I only have an oily area around my nostrils. I would seriosly take her off the meds for her skin and use ProActiv, that stuff Vanessa Williams and Jessica Simpson advertises on TV, my sister uses it and it works great on oily skin. I really think she’ll start seeing a difference within 2-3 weeks of beginning ProActiv. And you can buy a cream called Mederma for about $17 at any drugstore, and that will help minimize the appearance of facial scars, I promise, it works, ’cause I use it myself. Hope this info helps and that you and your daughter have a great day!
i tried mkst things (but not eveyrthing)
I just think its part genetics and part diet.
So if your diet and lifestyle are under control and youstill have it in your genes ….. you gotta ride the storm
