Acne medicines causing skin to peel?
I gοt a mild sunburn over a week ago аnd although thе redness seems tο bе gone, thеrе іѕ still a ton οf skin peeling οff οf mу face. Around thе same time I wаѕ sunburned, I bеgаn using two acne medications thаt mу doctor prescribed, аnd wаѕ wondering іf іt’s possible thаt thе acne medicine іѕ causing mу skin tο peel? Hаѕ anyone еlѕе experienced anything similar аnd аbουt hοw long dοеѕ thе peeling last?
i dont think so i got sun burned as well it peels for a long tme especialy on my nose but any way its just old skin no worries
i hope i helped
It is a possiblity that the medication is a contributing factor to the peeiling of your face. Many medications have harsh astringents and alcohols that are not PH balanced to your skins natural level. This can cause redness, peeling, dryness and flaking. Often this happens at the beginning of the acne treatment, read the packaging/ label to see if these symptoms are mentioned. If you continue to experience these symptoms it may be a good idea to return to your doctor, they may be able to prescribe something less abrasive and harsh.
the EXACT same thing happened to me last summer with clearasil. it hapens every time i use a store bought acne medication. i had heavy, heavy peeling that i thought was a sunburn. if you are allergic to sunscreen it is very likely that you are allergic to saalicylic acid whic is an ingredient in both sunscreen and many acne meds. if not you may be allergic to something else in the medications. you definitely need to stop using those meds and go see a doctor. i had a lot of itching so my doc gave me some eucerin oatmeal calming cream. the peeling stopped within 2-3 weeks, maybe less. if you are allergic to most storebought acne meds see a dermatologist or one med that doesnt have salicylic acid is benzaclin.
Yes, the medicine can do that, I used some that was from the Doctor, that made mine peel, I absolutely hated it so I stopped using it, I am using a gel from the Doctor, it works good, doesn’t make you peel, or dry your skin! or make your face greasy! : )
Good luck!
It’s quite likely. Benzoyl peroxide, for instance, is a commonly prescribed (and OTC) acne treatment that causes peeling. If you aren’t looking like a snake, you can see how things go over the next month or so. You may also notice that your acne flares up before it begins to clear. These are not at all uncommon when beginning some acne treatments.
